Nigel Farage praises work of Tendring District Scouts

March 19, 2026

Those who regularly read this column will know that I like to use it to shine a light on those groups and individuals who do so much to make a difference and make Clacton great.

This week I thought I would take the opportunity to talk about Tendring District Scouts who I visited over the weekend.

For those that don’t know, they are part of the wider Scout Association and in the local area there are a range of groups catering for those from the age of 4 to 24.

What they are best known for is offering young people opportunities for adventurous activities and opportunities for personal development. I often talk about the benefits of young people getting out there and getting involved in different activities and the Scouts are doing just that!

On my visit, I heard how they are currently in the midst of fundraising for their international expeditions next year. This will include visits to places as far afield as Kenya, North America as well as the World Scout Jamboree in Gdańsk, Poland.

So far they have already held a Tabletop Sale, a Craft Fair and most recently a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on 14th March to raise the money required to send them and accompanying adult volunteers on what will likely be life changing trips.

I was so impressed by all that I heard and saw that I have made my own contribution to support them.

I am also pleased to announce that Tendring District Scouts has been selected to receive a £2,000 donation from the Bacta Charitable Trust, following a nomination I made highlighting all that they do in the community.

If you too would like to make a donation to support the Scouts, their work locally and their adventures overseas to come you can via this link: https://pay.sumup.com/b2c/QWLZ5ZZ0
